  2. Huawei LUNA2000-215-2S10 - Test

Huawei LUNA2000-215-2S10 — capacity and round-trip efficiency test

Photomate · Business Center Residence · Kyiv · 23 June 2026
STANDARD IEC 62933-2-1:2017  ESS 215 kWh / 108 kW  TEST POWER 54 kW · 0.25C  RTE 92.04%

01 - Test objective and methodology

The test was performed using an independent measurement approach: the main charge and discharge parameters were measured by a separate external Metrel Power Master MI 2892 power quality analyzer at the ESS AC connection point. Data from the Huawei monitoring system were used for supplementary parameters such as SOC and temperature, while auxiliary consumption data were obtained from the ESS built-in auxiliary consumption meter. This approach allows the energy performance to be evaluated from independent measurements rather than relying solely on the ESS internal monitoring data.

The test was performed in accordance with IEC 62933-2-1:2017, which defines unit parameters and testing methods for electrical energy storage systems. The objective was to determine the usable AC energy delivered by the ESS and its round-trip efficiency during a complete charge/discharge cycle.

StepProcedure
1Discharge the ESS to 0% SOC.
2Charge from 0% to 100% SOC at 54 kW (0.25C), recording AC charge energy and auxiliary consumption.
3Short stabilization pause.
4Discharge from 100% to 0% SOC at 54 kW (0.25C), recording AC discharge energy and auxiliary consumption.
Only measurements recorded during the complete charge/discharge cycle were used for the capacity and RTE calculations.

03 - Complete charge/discharge cycle

Charge/discharge power measured by the Metrel analyzer is shown together with SOC from the ESS monitoring system. SOC was recorded at 5-minute intervals; the line between measured points is linearly interpolated for visualization.

Thermal behavior during the cycle

 Measured by the ESS monitoring system

The chart shows the ESS air intake temperature and the highest/lowest battery-pack temperatures. The narrow pack-temperature band demonstrates stable thermal management during the full 0.25C cycle.

During the cycle, ESS air intake temperature was 28.7–32.5 °C (average 31.1 °C). Battery-pack temperatures remained within 26.3–31.4 °C, with a maximum hottest-to-coldest pack spread of 0.5 °C.

04 - Energy balance and efficiency

RTE calculation

 RTE₁ = E  D  / E  C  × 100% = 93.61%

 RTE₂ = (E  D  − W  D  ) / (E  C  + W  C  ) × 100% = 92.04%

ParameterMeasured value
E  C  —  energy supplied to the ESS during charge 225.775 kWh
E  D  —  energy delivered by the ESS during discharge 211.355 kWh
W  C  —  auxiliary consumption during charge 2.06 kWh
W  D  —  auxiliary consumption during discharge 1.66 kWh

05 - Auxiliary consumption

Auxiliary energy is taken from the ESS monitoring system's cumulative daily counter. Consumption for each phase is calculated as the difference between the counter values at the end and at the beginning of that phase.
