OEM Photomate

An energy management system based on a predictive AI algorithm capable of efficiently controlling energy generation and storage, resulting in maximum electricity cost savings.

The Photomate OEM control cabinet is designed to manage Huawei BESS in combination with supported PV inverters, the EkoEnergetyka EV charger, and the ERA heat pump. A prerequisite for installation is a power meter connected to the SmartLogger, or a power meter from the list of supported devices connected directly to the EMS.

Software Features

  • Reserved Power and Input Limit Protection
This function regulates the output of the PV plant to prevent exceeding the maximum permitted energy delivery to the distribution grid. The system continuously monitors the PV output and automatically adjusts the active power when approaching the reserved limit. Excess energy can be efficiently stored in the battery system, preventing any overdelivery to the grid.

  • Zero-Feed-In Operation During Negative Market Prices
This feature limits energy export to the distribution grid during periods of negative electricity prices, which occur increasingly often when using SPOT tariffs. The system monitors market price forecasts and, ahead of negative price intervals, maximizes the available battery capacity for storing surplus production. Feed-in avoidance is achieved by reducing generator output, ensuring that no excess energy is fed into the grid and preventing financial losses caused by selling energy at negative prices.

  • SPOT Price Control – Energy Purchase and Sale
In SPOT-price-based energy management, shifting consumption and storage plays a key role. The battery system can be charged during low-price hours and used to offset consumption during high-price periods. At the same time, generated energy can be sold when market prices are high, maximizing economic efficiency.

A major advantage of the EMS is its predictive algorithm, which continuously calculates the optimal energy balance based on forecasted consumption, generation, and SPOT prices. The algorithm coordinates all connected devices while utilizing the battery system, enabling more precise and efficient planning and real-time adaptation to market conditions. This ensures optimal use of energy resources, reduced energy costs, and increased profitability of installed technologies.

  • Maximizing the Use of Generated Energy and Strengthening Grid Performance
This function focuses on optimizing energy consumption to maximize the use of internally generated energy (e.g., solar panels, wind turbines, or CHP units).

The EMS optimizes the use of the battery system by storing surplus generated energy for later use—for example, when generation decreases or external energy prices increase.

  • Peak Price and Peak Power Compensation Using the Battery System
This feature is designed to optimize energy costs and maximize economic returns. It uses the battery to balance fluctuations in hourly (SPOT) market prices. When SPOT prices are low, the battery charges—either during periods of cheap excess energy or lower demand. Conversely, during peak demand and high-price periods, the system utilizes stored energy from the battery.

The peak-shaving function allows effective compensation of sudden increases in energy consumption. The battery charges during low-demand periods to be ready to supply energy during peak load. When demand rises, the battery feeds stored energy into the system, reducing strain on the distribution grid and minimizing the need to purchase expensive peak-hour energy. This not only optimizes overall energy costs but also contributes to the stability and efficiency of the energy system.
